I have been slacking on the ole blog lately. Deadlines and other matters dragging me in many directions. I am back into the paint which is nice! I just finished a decent Deluge painting (part of my series) that is 4 x 5 foot. It has a certain harmony..I walked around it (the canvas) for a month before I hit it. Then it was a matter of two days. Sometimes it is harder to find harmony in a simple painting than a detailed labored work.

I am handing this off to a collector today...going to miss this one...paintings are like children (except they are square) I like to sell work but I always miss it...This is a spooky one, The Underworld...I signed it three times last night, some paintings are so sensitive to anything you add that if you dont "sign it" correctly it affects the painting. I had to wipe and resign three times.

Here is my third flood painting. This painting is about the beginning of something very big and very dangerous. The day is still calm and the fisherman in the distance is unaware of what is happening. This is often how things happen in life.There is a certain terrible beauty to natures violence. There is no beauty to man's violence.

I found out the meaning of the article today from the editor

It is a very sad article made of several accounts by survivors of a tragedy. We had a terrible rain season at the beginning of this year in an area surrounded by rock mountains. Rivers flooded and the heavy rain made the vegetation and trees and mud that lined the rock to slide carrying houses. All that fell on top of other houses that were on the lower regions already flooded... it was very sudden, many people died, there was no way to help the injured because the roads were blocked. The worst is that it could have been avoided: the houses were built irregularly, in a dangerous area. Your work matches beautifully, it seems that the mountain is melting. Unlike the tsunami in Japan, here people are still homeless and there is no clear plan to solve the situation.
