note to america

Hey Folks,

First of all thanks for supporting the arts (especially Ten Dollar Art) I am so swamped with requests I can barley post work fast enough!..I have been up all night working on site and on ebay and will work though the day as well. Keep watching as I want everyone to own a Gardega. Feel free to comment as well and talk, I live a artist's life of seclusion and its nice to hear from people!
I have to go get my morning pepsi and will back in 20 minutes to upload more images to here and ebay.

yours,

alex

After Velasquez

There is only one true painter--Diego Velasquez. I try hard to be him but alas I become GARDEGA which is not that bad. A true painter looks to Velasquez not to Cezanne or Sargent or some such watered down swill. Dali worshiped at the altar of Velasquez, I worshiped at Dali's altar and so on...this is a small study of Apollo from "appollo at the forge of Vulcan" by V. I will miss this oil study very much. Ten dollars, going

nudes from life

This is a famous actress who posed nude for me. Sorry, I can't reveal her name, don't even ask. It is pencil on a small piece of bond paper (7.5" x 9.25 ") I always liked this little page but it too must go. It is ten dollars. I had no relations with this lady.

Portrait of Julian Schnabel

Here is a small drawing I made of my old neighbor and famous artist Julian Schnabel while he was eating lunch with friends. I spoke to him afterwards but did not show him my drawing. He told me he has a new installation at the Met Life building I have yet to see. This drawing is very small (about 2" by 3") and on lined paper. It is a small part of NYC art-history. The restaurant was "The Spotted Pig" my friend Ken Friedman owns. It is a big hot spot these days. This drawing is a steal at ten dollars and I am sad to let it go but it is all about non-attachment.
