leonardo learning---drawing feet

I drew these today based of some sketches and photographs I took at The Met of a greek sculpture.. Feet are hard to draw unless you draw what you see...(not what you think you see..)
Drawing from life is best and drawing from sculpture is second best and drawing from photos is very low on the list of the best ways to learn to draw. I will go over te structure of the foot in my next lesson..

athena--framed and hung

My friend Tamara bought this piece from my show. I like to see my work framed and hung (even when I get it via a crappy cell phone photo.) Most of my collectors are not photographers.

I want to sit in a field and not think and make watercolors of cows and just breathe

Leonardo Learning---visible spectrum

The visible spectrum is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that is visible to us. All of the colors are contained in the visible spectrum but some can only be seen if certain wavelengths mix and harmonize. Humans cannot see near infrared nor can they cant hey see far infrared...Different creatures see different parts of the E. spectrum than humans (birds and insects for example) Birds can see ultraviolet light and bees as well.

What I find most fascinating about the visible spectrum it is such a tiny sliver of what is really "out there" yet it is what we consider concrete reality..There is much more to the picture than meets the eye and we are indeed slaves to our five senses as we see not the whole room but rather a small glimpse through a keyhole.

That is why I laugh at people who are very linear minded and wont accept things beyond the rational and beyond their own "two eyes" There is an entire world beyond the one we can see, smell taste and hear.

If you see a red flower and a bee sees the flower in ultraviolet..what color is the flower? It is both and that is another lesson.

here is some mumbo jumbo you do not need to know unless you are a scientist
