I never considered myself a colorist--I care more about form and ideas. Color is a strange animal, either you have a knack for it or you dont. Here is a painting by dean cornwell, one of the great american illustrators. My advice is if you dont know color then go sparce young man! It is easy to ruin a great piece with too many colors, keep it simple. Here we see a master artist with great color sense.
That blue stripe on the boat is what makes this piece (for me)
