The single most underrated artist (during his time) (and aside from myself!) is Daumier...He was considered a cartoonist and illustrator and he died poor but he also died a genius. He was one of the greatest draftsmen of all time. When I was young he was my god. I still love his line work...He influenced Picasso and many others.
