chiaroscuro is a very basic art concept. One should know about it. Once I was making Martinis for the actor Matt Dillon and he asked me about chiaroscuro but he called it cheerio scurio or some such thing. It was the funniest thing I ever heard. He was a pretty nice guy so I didnt laugh at him but the way he said it cracks me up to this day.
