meatless mondays

In Baltimore they have begun school programs called "meatless Mondays." (At the same time that a majority of kids have a protein deficiency, mind you.) I have noticed articles popping up regarding the idea of a "planet without meat" and taking the meat out of the human diet all together. This will be better for Mother Earth, they say. My sharp incisors were not given to me to chew on berries, they were made for steak and meat and I don't think it is the governments place to tell us when our kids will have meat or not. This is called indoctrination and smacks of 1933 Germany brown-shirt mentality. If meat was bad for us we wouldn't crave it when we smell bacon on a Sunday morning. Show me a healthy vegetarian or world class athlete who is a vegan and I may change my mind. Most vegans who work in health-food stores look like they just got out of some laboratory where they were kept in a dark box for three years and their skin is a perfect shade of unhealthy. I have a better idea--no veges Tuesdays--we serve the kids a big pile of meatloaf with gravy and a side of pork. Now we're talking. I respect you if you are a vegan, it is a kind choice but I don't think it should ever be imposed on the populous. Perhaps this is the Texan in me speaking.
