I may be going out west soon to paint a mural for my favorite client/ collector. Painting murals is a very zen thing. They are free and open and expressive and painting large is liberating. Even ceilings are wonderful---they are painful but it is good pain. once I painted a ceiling and screwed up my neck for weeks. I thought I was going to be gimped for life. When I paint murals I pretend I am in in the 1500's I really do. I know it sounds cheesy but I put on music from those times and just lose myself in paint. I once got a great mural job from drinking in a bar and mumbling drunk about how much I love Leonardo to the bartender (I was sitting next to a person who wanted a leonardo ceiling in his mansion).drinking can occasionally pay the bills.
