When I was 16 I had braces. I got real sick of braces quick. My ortho told me that they would come off at a date and he lied. I had them for an extra year, one day I went to my tool box grabbed pliers and a few tools and I removed my own braces. My mouth was bloodied and a mess but I got em all out and went out and drank whiskey to kill the pain. This is pretty much an example of my personality..my parents just shook their heads---they knew that when I want something done it gets done. you cant tell me anything, you cannot give me advice...they gave up trying years ago...its my way or no way. I still remember the bloody pile of metal on my dresser as I finished the job.
