RIP elaine

The famed elaine kaufman has passed on. She owned one of my favorite places, the literary joint on the upper east and her namesake...She was always in there holding court with famous writers there..I would always see famous writers when I went to elaines--for some reason she always kept a sketchy eye on me which found hilarious..I dont bother famous people but I did say hello to gay talese and peter hamill and yogi bera there once. Her restaurant was featured in the song bigshot by billy joel. The strange thing was a few months ago I was sitting at the bar and I looked over at here and I just knew she had a bad heart..she was way overweight and just got a vibe that there wasnt long togo...another ny institution gone...I wonder what will become of the place without her?
