smugness

I hate smug people. To me it is the most detestable of character traits. I dont like smug artists, smug interviewers, smug intellectuals, smug actors, smugness makes my skin crawl...watch interviews with ketih richards--one of the great musicians of our time and he is just there, just present not smug but very much a thinking man...dali wasnt smug, he was over the top genius elitist comic character but he wasnt smug..smugness is the scourge of our time. I am like a rat to light when I smell it on a person and the reason humans are in there very core adverse to smugness is because it is a psycological defense mechanism to insecurity and hmans smell this..it is not authentic...as hemingway said--we all have built in bullshit detectors.
