8.9 mag. earthquake hits japan

8.9 magnitude hits Japan. Terrible devastation. For some reason we tend to think that major tragedies only happen in "other places" but when you see a major metropolis get hit it wakes you up a bit.  The loss of life seems minimal which is one good thing but I think the infrastructure is a mess. One day you are going about your life's tasks the next your city is in shambles. strange world.
