acrylics vs. oils
Acrylics are very useful for illustrative work and also for under-painting of structure. Acrylic is a plastic based paint and dries quickly.. It is perfect for modern art because it requires very little skill to work with. Most of the failed modern art of the sixties is painted in acrylic paint and most of it is already falling apart. The oils from the renaissance are in better shape. I use acrylics as a base for my murals and for my yellow page covers but I always glaze on top with oil paints. Oils provide a richness that you cannot get with acrylics. Acrylics are like the pet photography of art and there should be a certain shame in using them among true professionals (unless you are a complete hacksoul and only care about money.) Acrylics are great for learning and for students because they dry quick and therefore you can get results faster and increase your learning curve. Both paints are expensive, in this photo I have my new paints and brushes: cost 400 dollars.
