My art director liked my cover but said it could be better..he is usually right. Each year we try to hit a new level of quality. Why bother making something good...try to be great..art should sing. If this doesnt sing ill repaint. Sometimes deadlines make you settle. Time is on my side on this piece

Back to work

I took off about four days. I didnt  go somewhere warm nor did I go to Vegas. I was in the middle of nowhere upstate near canada. I sat and drew for four days and thought about art and life. I also spent some time in an indian casino. I dont gamble so it was fun to observe the people who do and to experience the whole casino thing. It is amazing what four days can do to a person. I was running on empty after a year and a half of art labor with no breaks. I was starting to get sloppy and make mistakes, I was burnt and fried like a cheap taco and hardly knew it. Sometimes the best vacation can be to just go sit somewhere and reflect...

I am away for a few days. First days off in over a year. Time to retreat into self and think about the future. Sometimes you can work yourself into a numbness and it is important to take a little time of and breathe and reflect. If you don't take time off ever, you risk getting sloppy in your art and life and making mistakes. Reflection is important, the road ahead is informed by the path behind. The past is a nice place but I wouldn't want to live there. I am making some changes in my art and its path soon..stay tuned..
