oversouling: a great article

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-eskow/christina-aguilera-and-th_b_819979.html

Here is a well written article about the great and modern phenom of white people over-singing (think christina argulaera) mangling the star spangled banner. I am posting this because it relates also to painting in young artists--artists who have no understanding of color or tone etc and throw the whole kitchen sink on a canvas. The hardest lesson in art ever (and one I still battle with) is to keep it simple and stripped down, like the prose of hemingway..If you go baroque go big baroque--intentional baroque--dali baroque, but know what you rae doing..until you know how to paint use two or thre colors at most...try just black and white...etc...dont oversoul your work. walk first, then run.
